Hillclimb 2023: When the calf muscles burn

Mittwoch, 28. Juni 2023

As is tradition, the calendar delivers a burner on the first race day of the KitzAlpBike Festival - in the truest sense of the word, because the VAUDE MTB-HILLCLIMB Brixen im Thale presented by GHOST is a real calf burner. 5.5 kilometres and a gruelling 500 metres in altitude await the participants along the course from the village centre to the finish at Hochbrixen.

Austria's biggest mountain bike mountain sprint will take place for the 15th time this year. It brings the best that mountain biking has to offer to the limelight. Among the hundreds of participants, the local mountain sprint elite, professionals from the international marathon and cross-country scene, as well as amateur bikers from all directions fight for the placings.

From 5.30 p.m. onwards, spectators can take the gondola lift up to the finish area on Hochbrixen free of charge. The start of the race spectacle is at 6.30 p.m. in the village centre of Brixen im Thale. The best are expected at the finish line just 18 minutes later. After the biggest exertions have been overcome, there will be a cosy get-together for all athletes at the "Stiegl Alm".

But even if the initial moments at the finish line at Filzalmsee Lake may not yet feel like something to savour - the event to kick off the KitzAlpBike Festival in the Kitzbühel Alps is one thing above all for the participants: an experience. The unique atmosphere, the enthusiasm of the spectators along the route and the unique backdrop give the HillClimb a very special racing atmosphere.
